I see conflicting dates for his birth as Oct 16, 1918 or 1922. The CD reissue of "Louisiana Cajun and Creole Music The Newport Field Recordings" (Rounder 2010), includes both dates, "1918" in an excerpt from a 1986 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship award.
